AbriL: a new musical

What is Abril?

 Created by Gina Naomi Baez, Abril is a new musical that follows the journey of Abril Ruiz (who goes by April), a resilient latine teenager who battled Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (a type of cancer) and now faces the emotional and psychological challenges of survivorship. The musical is narrated by her older self, Abril (who still goes by April), who reflects on her high school years and the impact of her illness on her life and those around her. Through this journey, Abril learns to embrace her past younger self and the person she has become in present day. She becomes whole and goes by her true name for the first time Abril.
